Gerry Protti

Gerard Protti is Executive Vice-President, Corporate Relations, and President, Offshore & International Division, for EnCana Corporation. His Corporate Relations responsibilities include regulatory services and international, aboriginal, public and community relations. In addition, he is accountable for EnCana's programs regarding corporate responsibility, environment, health and safety, and security as well as energy technology and research initiatives. As President of Offshore and International Division, he is accountable for EnCana’s international exploration and development activities and EnCana’s Atlantic assets. Prior to his current role, Gerry held the positions of Senior Vice-President, New Ventures, Senior Vice-President Operations, and Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Downstream Business Development at one of EnCana’s predecessor companies. Gerry was the founding President of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), and Executive Director of the Independent Petroleum Association of Canada (IPAC). His extensive experience includes roles as assistant Deputy Minister with the Government of Alberta's Energy Department, and senior positions with the Alberta Treasury department and the Canadian Energy Research Institute. He started his career in Toronto as an economist with Ontario Hydro. Gerry was born in Edmonton and received a Bachelor of Arts, Honours (Economics) from the University of Alberta in 1974, and a Master of Arts (Economics) from the University of Western Ontario in 1975. He has completed the Wharton Business School's Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania and Institute of Corporate Directors Corporate Governance College, Directors Education Program May 2005, Institute-certified Director, ICD.D, July 2005. Gerry is Vice-Chairman of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Board of Governors, Chair of the CAPP Public Affairs Executive Policy Group (EPG), Co-Chair of the federal government’s Energy Sector Sustainability Table, and a member of the University of Alberta Board of Governors. He is also past Chairman of the Board of the Public Policy Forum (2006-2007), past Chairman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (2003-2004) and past Chairman of the Alberta STARS Foundation (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society) (1996-2002). In addition, he is a member of the Alberta Economic Development Authority.
